FEAR of FLYING?
"I had not flown for over 10 years and saw the world literally passing me by. I missed a dear friends wedding, a reunion trip and a lot of vacations that would have been so fun. I told myself it was okay - that it wasn't that big of a deal. But it was. Friends would come home and show me pictures of their vacations. Their kids would talk about how great it was to visit Europe together and I would smile for them and cry for me - and my kids.
I finally decided it was time. On the other hand, I was terrified. So I sat in fear's grip for a couple of years - knowing what I needed to do yet still unable to do it.
I found a good opportunity to travel - as a board member of a professional association, I was required to attend an annual conference. I'd be seeing friends and would have a chance to reach more people with the work I do. I took a multi-tied approach - talking with my physician about pharmaceutical options (which never took enough of an edge off before) and I visited the airport with a pilot friend of mine. Then I spoke with Tina.
Tina patiently worked through each fear with me and I was able to dig out the last, deep tap root of the fear. It was significant and moved me to tears - and I released it.
The combination of a meeting with her and using the audio "Release the Fear of Flying" she has, I was able to take it a step at a time. I played the recording while I waited and again on the plane as we waited for take off. Then once more as we were in the air.
I was in such a Zen place! Totally relaxed, almost asleep when my husband woke me and told me "We're landing."
